Introduce more character to your walls with this pair of framed antique Ottoman embroideries.
Made from the end pieces of an antique Ottoman yaglik, a Turkish-style towel originating from the 19th/early 20th centuries in the Ottoman region (modern-day Turkey or Greece). These fragments are likely from Turkey, and feature a shrine-like or architectural design in shades of blue, pink, orange, and gold using silk and metallic threads (unique to yaglik textiles), on a neutral linen ground.
Each antique textile is carefully mounted onto heavyweight linen, creating a clean, contemporary presentation while allowing the original craftsmanship and delicate detail to take centre stage. It is then set within a bespoke oak frame, professionally made in Bristol, UK.
The result is a pair of one-of-a-kind framed textile artworks that bring softness, texture and a collected feel to your home.
Details:
- Silk and metal embroidery thread on linen fabric, mounted on 100% heavyweight linen
- Each frame is approximately 33.5cm (width) x 48cm (length) x xxcm (depth)
